Jan grew up in Southfield, Michigan and attributes her love of art & gardening to her mother, stating "My mom was always taking me to art & history museums when I was young, and she had the most breathtaking flower gardens!" As for cats and science fiction, well she just always loved cats. Growing up in the era of the space race fueled her love of science fiction and fantasy, it's a place where you can be anything your imagination creates. And you never know, the universe is a vast expanse which we have not completely explored.
